| Hello to all friends of the Family Rosary Prayer
Group!
As you may have noticed, the FRPG website has been neglected
for almost an entire year. There are a couple of reasons
for this, but mainly I haven't had the time to devote to this
project.
I began the FRPG website in 1998 after returning to the US
after seven years of being stationed overseas in Guam, Germany,
and Italy. It began as a personal project to help those
who participated in the prayer groups in these places, but soon
it evolved into the FRPG prayer chain. At it's peak, the
prayer chain had well over 200 devoted members who would receive
prayer requests of people from around the world. These
prayer requests were emailed to me from the website, and I would
read each one to ensure they were not offensive or contained
advertising, spam, or just silly stuff. To my amazement, I
never received anything but the most sincere and often
heartbreaking pleas for prayer.
Now, as my family and I have moved again from the military
into civilian life, and from South Carolina to Arizona, I found
I don't have the time to screen each prayer request, compile the
emails, and send them to the many FRPG prayer warriors around
the globe. It breaks my heart to know many people have
continued to send in requests and I can't forward them on to
others. Therefore, in good conscience, I have temporarily
suspended the prayer chain.
I am looking into a couple of options which would allow us to
resume the prayer chain with less effort on the part of the
webmaster-- primarily, to set up a function where people can
send in a prayer request and it would go straight to the prayer
chain members. There are some measures I could take to
have emails automatically screened, but there are a couple of
problems with this approach:
- I would not be able to guarantee that 100% of the e-mails
would be sincere requests for prayers, and
- Members would automatically receive each prayer request
sent as a separate email (as opposed to receiving a block of
prayer requests as I used to do). Sometimes you may
receive two or three requests a day, if it reaches the point
it was at before.
I don't know how many of you would actually be willing to try
this new approach, but if you are interested let me know.
You can email me at bradoberry@msn.com.
Meanwhile, I ask those of you who have been involved in any
kind of Family Rosary Prayer Group to please write to me.
I would like to bring the new site online and ask for
testimonials, pictures, points of contact for your prayer group,
and whatever else may be of interest to all friends of the
Church, our Lord, and Mary.
God bless you and your family,
Brad |
